Painted Lady Butterflies

Here at Gist Academy we are happy to be raising painted lady butterflies for our spring science project!! The larvae came in on Monday, looking like this:


They were about 1mm when we got them, and as of today they have already doubled in size!

The kids make butterfly life cycle puppets out of construction paper:



and Danielle made a video about the butterfly life cycle.

How fun! We did that when my daughter was about 6 and she still talks about it. It was one of the coolest things we've done for homeschool science. (unlike the praying mantis cocoon, that was just a nasty experience, LOL)
