Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
LOVED IT!! It was so great! Not a remake at all, but a completely different retelling of the original story. Johnny Depp was wonderfully weird, Charlie was endearing, and Veriuca, Agustus, Mike, and Violet were just disturbing enough that you were a little happy with their fates ;) I can't wait for it to come out on video, would love to see it again and again. The only things I didn't like were the Ooompa Loompa songs, difficult to understand, and the scene with the squirrels, with out giving away too much, it was just disturbing to me for some reason.
And there was a preview for the other great Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movie, Corpse Bride (2005)! I totally can't wait for this one to come out!!
